Because sleep apnea occurs while patients are sleeping, it is very difficult to be self-aware of the condition while it is happening. Thus, the early identification of sleep apnea relies on the doctor’s keen awareness of related symptoms and comorbid diseases.

Obstructive sleep apnea has been associated with virtually every type of cardiac disease, including heart attack, high blood pressure, stroke, congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease. Other related conditions include Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity, Depression, Insomnia, Erectile Dysfunction and Cancer. From lifestyle encumbrances like drowsy driving and excessive fatigue to chronic diseases (above), undiagnosed sleep apnea will wreak havoc on the quality of life and overall health of your patient.

Our panel of Board-Certified Sleep Specialists are keenly aware of the benefits of all treatment modalities for obstructive sleep apnea, including the advances in oral appliance therapy.

Treatment recommendations are based on AASM (American Academy of Sleep Medicine) guidelines. According to these standards, mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (AHI 5 – 30) can be treated with oral appliance therapy as the first modality of care. Whereas, patients with severe obstructive sleep apnea (AHI > 30) are required to use CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure).

There are few things in life more refreshing than a “good night’s sleep”. Our vision is simple: to empower providers in giving this gift of sleep to each of their at-risk patients. The ability to change lives in such a dramatic way is an incredible opportunity… and one we share generously.

How we sleep is how we live. Sleep well. Live well.
